I love what Boot Camp has done for me!! I am 48 years old and have always been a runner, so I thought my level of fitness was OK. I don't enjoy strength training so I thought that having someone design workouts and push me through them would be perfect. So, I signed up for my first boot camp. I found out that I wasn't as fit as I thought I was! I loved (and hated) the boot camp workouts. I love a challenge and the workouts were challenging! I always feel a sense of accomplishment at the end of a workout. Melanie always offers a modified version of the exercises, so the workout is customized to the fitness level of the boot camper. The feeling of camaraderie between the boot camp participants and Melanie made the workouts go quickly and brought a sense of fun to our pain! After the first boot camp that I completed, I noticed that I hit the golf ball farther and I had more stamina when I ran. That was all it took! I am just completing my third boot camp and I'm signed up for my fourth. I thought that at my age, losing strength was inevitable, but I'm not going down without a fight and boot camp has given me a way to maintain (and gain) strength at my age.

Ever feel like you are packing on the weight? Sure you see it on the scale, but really, how fat and out of shape are you? I finally decided to do something after seeing Melanie's ad in The Anaconda Leader in December of 2008. I spoke with two others about the class to learn more about it. I started at square one, going from an out-of-shape-for-10-years slob. Melanie has earned many nicknames over the course of the six-week class, many that cannot be said publicly. With all of the pushups, situps, squats, cardio and hell came a great satisfaction. Not only does she work your tail off for 45 minutes straight, Melanie teaches you about nutrition and how to eat right at crucial points of the day... the major problem with people being over weight in the first place.
I'm proud to say Melanie alone helped me lose 24 pounds and 3 percent body fat in six short weeks, increased my pushups by over half in a one minute time period, increased my situps from 35 in two minutes to 69 in the same time and helped me drop two minutes off my mile run.
Forget about the cost of the class, look at it as learning a new skill and investing in your future. I for one will do the class over and over again, mainly for satisfaction of walking out of the class on my own two feet.
